The Jewish Learning Annex (JLA) was founded in order to offer traditional Jewish courses to anyone interested in partaking of the wisdom of the Torah (the Hebrew Bible). The instructors at the JLA include Rabbi Yeruchem Eilfort, Director of Chabad at La Costa, Rabbi Michoel Shapiro, Director of Education at Chabad at La Costa, and Dr. Harvey Raben (past principal of the Beth Israel Jewish Day School and Hebrew School).

JLA offers specific series of courses and ongoing classes. Courses taught in the series format are those professionally produced by the Jewish Learning Institute (www.MyJLI.com). The ongoing courses include basic Hebrew Language Skills and Rap-with-the-Rabbi (a chance to ask the Rabbi any question about Judaism/life). Special courses have been designed to interest teenagers so that they will feel inspired to continue their Jewish education past Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

All classes are open to anyone, regardless of background or affiliation. There is no membership requirement to participate. Classes are held on the beautiful campus of Seacrest Village Retirement Home in Encinitas so that the residents of that facility may conveniently attend.
